How much will it cost to sell my company?

Expect to spend between $65,000 and $200,000 on a $10 million deal. If it gives you any comfort, the buyer will pay at least twice what you pay.  Here’s the breakdown:

    • Ego of advisors arguing over “who’s right"
  • $125 to $600 per hour (determined by geography and size of firm)
  • Expect $25,000 to $100,000 for a $10 million deal
  • What drives up costs:
    • Poor existing accounting infrastructure and processes
    • Vague or misleading accounting
    • Lots of seller add backs to profitability
